The film isn't fall-down hilarious, in fact co-star Dax Shepard gets the most laughs as Angie's idiot loser boyfriend, but unlike most comedies that sputter it remembers to develop the story to conclusion, thereby delivering consistent entertainment value for all 100 minutes. She plays a character, career-minded health food chain VP Kate Holbrook, not far removed from her 30 Rock alter-ego Liz Lemon, while Poehler plays surrogate mom wannabe Angie to her strength of mouthy mania often seen during her SNL days.

All things considered, Brian Klugman truly does it all in this film, and in doing so gives us the best love story we've seen in years.In a movie starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, I assumed that it had been written by Tina Fey and/or Amy Poehler, so I was surprised to discover during the end credit crawl that it was written by the director Michael McCullers. The intellectual writing is something rarely seen, and this film had little, if any, predictability to it.
